Welcome To:CAPITOL |
Reason for joing the club was to learn. Not having any experience in training and showing dogs, I knew I needed guidance. I found that at the Capitol Dog Training Club of Austin. My dog started in the Puppy Agility class and moved up the ranks to winning her titles. She is currently working on her Excellent Title. Zach is currently in Herding Training Thanks to Capitol dog Training Club and my coach Mary Carter. |

Smokey is an 8 year old Pomeranian that I got from the shelter; he is my forever friend. He did well in his short agility career (retired early). I only showed him 9 times and he placed 8 of them taking 1st and 2nd places and 1 third place. Breezy is a three year old shetland sheepdog (sheltie) that I have had for 1 1/2 years. I was so lucky to be able to have Breezy in my life. I got her shortly after my other sheltie, Katie, lost a battle with cancer. Breezy is a character, quite a determined little agility girl. |
I have been teaching obedience classes in Austin, Texas for 11 years and began teaching agility classes this year. I have been a member of Capitol Dog Training Club for 13 years, and have served as President, 1st Vice-President, Secretary, and Director of Publicity. I also worked as Editor of the Canine Communique newsletter for four years. I received the Kennel Ration Metal for Good Sportsmanship Award. I share my life with 8 dogs: four American Eskimos, one Golden Retriever, one West Highland White Terrier, One All-American, and one Dachshund. Lacy and her dogs compete in obedience, agility, tracking and water rescue trials. I also perform with my Golden Retriever, Pie, and toy American Eskimo Dog, Elf, doing tricks and a dance routine at children's birthday parties and local events. My dogs and I have participated in dog drill teams, square dances, and two of my dogs have even been in commercials. I have taught dog training classes for the University of Texas, and currently have an on-line dog training class through Netscape Learning Center. I have published dog training articles, as well as a book on Basic Dog Training that Barnes and Noble purchased for their on-line training course. My husband and I are active in rescue and currently foster American Eskimo Dogs and Dachshunds. |

I am 16 years old. I have been doing agility since I was 11 years old. I first went out to the Capitol field on my birthday. My aunt knew someone who did agility with her dog and I wanted to see what agility was. I set a date, but at the time I didn’t realize it was my birthday. It sure was a good birthday present, to see agility at the Capitol field. When I first started agility I was really shy, but in agility you cant be shy. You have to ask a lot of questions, which I wasn’t really used to. Since I started agility, I have become more talkative, not only when I am doing agility but also in school. I started agility with a Chihuahua named Heidi. She wasn’t really the best dog for agility because she didn’t like it, but it was good to start with such a hard dog like her. I later got a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Brandi. Brandi was born in October of 1999. She has her AX and AXJ in AKC, and also has her AD in USDAA. She has also taken the CGC test and passed it, but I never sent in the form for her to get a certificate. Since I enjoyed agility with Brandi so much, I recently got a new Border Collie puppy, named Radar, that was born in March of 2003. I got him for more competitive agility. He is doing really well and I cant wait to start to show him. My goals are to one day get Brandi’s MX and MXJ and get her to agility Nationals. I also want Radar to get his MaCH and to one day get him into the top 10 at Nationals. Agility has changed my life and gave me the best bond with my dog I could ever of had. |
